Iran seizes huge haul of fuel in Strait of Hormuz

ANKARA (AA) – Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) seized the largest smuggled fuel in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a military commander on Wednesday.

IRGC forces confiscated over 12.5 million liters of smuggled fuel in a 10,000-ton ship, the largest amount seized so far, commander Alireza Tangsiri said.

Some 21 people were arrested on fuel smuggling charges as part of a “successful” operation targeting a major smuggling circle, Tangsiri said. He, however, did not give further information about the suspects.

According to Mehr New Agency, IRGC forces had also dismantled a major fuel smuggling circle, seizing more than 10 million liters of fuel in early March.
