Iranian fighter jet crashes, leaving pilot dead

ISTANBUL (AA) – One person was killed and another was injured in Iran after a Mig-29 fighter jet crashed while trying to land at a military base, according to Iran’s official news agency.
IRNA quoted an anonymous source who said the incident happened late Tuesday at Nojeh Air Base in the western province of Hamadan.
Both victims were the warplane’s pilots. The injured pilot was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
IRNA said that, according to an Iranian official, technical failure was behind the crash.
