Iran’s Rouhani meets Syrian FM in Tehran

TEHRAN (AA) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem in Tehran on Wednesday.

Speaking during the meeting, Rouhani reiterated that his country's goals in Syria were "to achieve security and stability and allow the return of refugees", according to a statement issued by the Iranian Presidency.

The statement said relations between Damascus and Tehran “were progressing in all fields”.

Currently on an official visit to Iran, al-Muallem held talks on Tuesday with Iranian Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and Chairman of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani.

Talks between Zarif and al-Muallem dwelt on a planned summit on Syria between Turkey, Russia and Iran in the Russian resort city of Sochi on Feb. 14.
