Iraqi VP calls for security conference with Turkey

Allawi says the security conference should include Turkey and Iran

BAGHDAD (AA) – Iraqi Vice-President Iyad Allawi on Wednesday called for a regional security conference to include Turkey and Iran.

Allawi made the call during a meeting he held in Baghdad with British ambassador Frank Baker.

"Our call for holding a regional conference aims to provide solutions for both suspended issues related to our region and regional security and stability,” he said, according to a presidential office statement.

He underlined the importance of creating a favorable climate for holding transparent parliamentary election in Iraq, due to be held next year.
