Conversations come as fears grow over a broader regional conflict in Middle East

LONDON (AA) - Ireland’s Foreign Minister Simon Harris on Thursday called for calm as the conflict between Iran and Israel rages on, after talks with his Jordanian and Saudi counterparts.
“This afternoon I spoke with Jordanian FM Ayman Safadi & Saudi FM Prince Faisal bin Farhan,” Harris said in a post on X.
“We discussed the crisis between Iran & Israel and the urgent need for de-escalation & diplomacy. We agreed on the need to maintain focus on the deplorable situation in Gaza & the West Bank.”
Israel launched airstrikes on several sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities on June 12, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes. The tit-for-tat attacks have continued.
The White House has said that US President Donald Trump will make a decision on whether the US will join in the Israel-Iran conflict in the next two weeks.
