Israel claims to have intercepted missile fired from Yemen

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Israeli army claimed on Friday that it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen.

“Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the IAF,” a military statement said.

“Sirens were heard in the southern Negev and Dead Sea area due to a launch from Yemen, including in Arad, Kiryat Arba, and Ein Gedi,” the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

The Houthis have intensified missile and drone strikes on Israel since Israeli forces resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip in March after two months of a shaky ceasefire.​​​​​​​

Since November 2023, the group has also targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea in support of Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 59,600 victims have been killed in an Israeli onslaught.
