Israel demolishes 8 Palestinian structures in West Bank

Israel widely uses pretext of lack of construction permits to demolish Palestinian homes

By Qais Abu Samra

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – The Israeli army tore down eight Palestinian structures in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, according to local residents.

Israeli forces raided the town of al-Diyouk al-Tahta, west of Jericho city in the southern West Bank, and demolished six Palestinian-owned homes, residents said.

The Israeli army cited lack of building permits for the demolitions.

Israeli forces also bulldozed two other homes in the Bedouin community of Maeen in the southern West Bank, Fouad al-Amour, coordinator of the local Protection and Resilience Committee in the area, told Anadolu.

Israel widely uses the pretext of lack of construction permits to demolish Palestinian homes, especially in Area C in the occupied West Bank, which constitutes around 60% of its space.

Under the 1995 Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, was divided into three portions – Area A, B, and C.
