Israel detains 5 Palestinians after raids in occupied West Bank

Army uses live fire, tear gas in West Bank towns; detain 2 men in Dura

RAMALLAH/ISTANBUL (AA) - The Israeli army reportedly detained five Palestinians on Saturday after raiding several towns in the occupied West Bank.

According to the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, the Israeli military carried out a large-scale raid in Dura, located in southern Hebron in the southern West Bank, using military vehicles.

Soldiers opened fire on Palestinians and deployed tear gas, detaining two young men.

Activists also released footage showing soldiers randomly firing in the middle of the town and detaining the men.

Clashes also erupted between Israeli forces and Palestinians during a raid in the town of Beit Ummar in northern Hebron.

Soldiers fired live and rubber-coated bullets, and used sound and gas grenades, resulting in numerous residents being affected by tear gas.

Israeli forces severely beat and detained 23-year-old Ibrahim Ahmed Sami Sabarina.

In a separate raid in Al-Khader southern Bethlehem in the southern West Bank, Israeli forces used live and rubber-coated bullets, sound grenades and tear gas, causing many to suffer from the gas.

The army also blocked iron barriers at the entrances to villages in the southern rural area of Bethlehem.

In the northern West Bank, Israel raided the Zinaba neighborhood in eastern Tulkarem, detaining two young men.
