JERUSALEM (AA) – The Israeli authorities have slapped a Palestinian official with a travel ban and confiscated his passport, Palestinian sources said Thursday.
According to a statement released by the Palestinian Ministry for Jerusalem Affairs, minister Adnan al-Husayni was “summoned” on Wednesday by Israeli intelligence officers.
A member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)’s Executive Committee, al-Husayni was reportedly banned from traveling abroad for a three-month period and slapped with a 10,000-shekel (roughly $2,675) fine.
Israel reportedly slapped similar restrictions on other Palestinian officials, including Jerusalem Governor Adnan Gheith and intelligence chief Majed Faraj.
Gheith was detained by the Israeli authorities last month before being released few days later.
