Israel upgrades F-35 jets for striking Iran: Report
Israel is only Middle East country to have F-35 fighter jets
By Abdelraouf Arna'out
JERUSALEM (AA) – Israel is upgrading its F-35 fighter jets to be capable of hitting Iranian targets without need of refueling, according to The Jerusalem Post newspaper on Wednesday.
The daily did not provide further details about the Israeli move, but said the upgrading is part of Israeli preparations for any "future strike against Iran's nuclear capabilities."
Israel is the only country in the Middle East to have received the state-of-the-art jet fighter from the United States.
According to the newspaper, Israel is also testing a bomb that can avoid "jamming and electronic warfare systems."
There was no comment from Iranian authorities on the report.
At several occasions, Israel clearly sent threatening messages that it will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.
