BEIRUT/ISTANBUL (AA) – Two people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon on Monday, in the latest violation of a ceasefire agreement, Lebanese media said.

The state news agency NNA reported that two brothers lost their lives in the strike that targeted a carpentry workshop on the outskirts of Al-Bayyad town in the Tyre district.

The attack came shortly after local media reported that Israeli drones flew at low altitude over villages in the Zahrani district in the country’s south.

According to NNA, an Israeli drone dropped a stun grenade in the Al-Kasayir neighborhood, east of the border town of Meiss al-Jabal, without causing any injuries.

Israel has repeatedly launched airstrikes in Lebanon on claims of targeting Hezbollah infrastructure despite the ceasefire agreement that took effect in November 2024.

Under the terms of the truce, the Israeli army was supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 2025. But it has only partially pulled out troops and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
