Israeli army claims intercepting Houthi missile from Yemen
Projectile triggered air-raid sirens across central Israel, briefly disrupted flights at Ben Gurion Airport

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Israeli army said Thursday evening that it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, shortly after a wave of Israeli airstrikes on Houthi targets in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
A military statement said air-raid sirens sounded in several areas across central Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
The daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that flights bound for Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport were briefly delayed in the air until the interception process ended.
There was no immediate confirmation from the Houthi group of the attack.
The missile attack came hours after Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on Houthi sites in Sanaa, killing at least eight people and injuring 142.
The Houthis and Israel have exchanged attacks in the past months amid rising tension over Tel Aviv’s ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, where more than 65,500 people have been killed since October 2023.
