Israeli foreign minister attends inauguration of embassy in Moldovan capital
Gideon Saar arrives in Chisinau on official visit, holds talks with Moldovan counterpart prior to embassy inauguration

ISTANBUL (AA) - Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Tuesday attended an inauguration ceremony for his country’s embassy in Moldova.
A statement from the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said that the inauguration ceremony took place with Saar’s participation, as well as other key officials from the two countries, including Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi.
According to the statement, Popsoi defined the opening of the embassy as “a landmark moment” in the history of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Israel.
“This step demonstrates the mutual commitment to a solid partnership and open to new perspectives of collaboration. We want this embassy to be a point of support for our communities and a catalyst for economic and cultural exchanges,” he said.
For his part, Saar expressed his country’s support for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying that Israel considers Moldova “an important friend in Europe.”
Saar arrived in Moldova on an official visit earlier in the day, and upon his arrival, held talks with his counterpart Popsoi.
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry said that the two foreign ministers, during the meeting, emphasized the importance of the embassy’s inauguration to consolidate diplomatic relations between Moldova and Israel.
They also reaffirmed their joint commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, it said.
