JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli police officials Friday met with representatives of Jordanian authorities to determine and identify the body of a Jordanian soldier found at a construction site in Jerusalem.

In a statement, the Israeli police said the meeting took place to identify the body of the soldier found along with ammunition and military equipment in the Ammunition Hill area in Jerusalem.

The statement said the weapons found were manufactured in 1956 and used by the Jordanian army during the war of 1967.

The Israeli police added that military helmets and personal belongings, including a knife, a watch, and a ring, were also found.

The remains of the Jordanian soldier were found on Thursday near Sheikh Jarrah's neighborhood in the occupied East Jerusalem where a battle took place between the Israeli and Jordanian armies in the course of the six-day 1967 war that resulted in the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem.
