Israeli official says no new travel warning issued on Turkey

Ministry spokesman Lior Haitat denies local media reports saying National Security Council had issued a new warning

By Enes Canli

JERUSALEM (AA) - An Israeli official said on Monday that the country had not issued a new warning on travel to Turkey, denying local media reports.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Haitat dismissed reports by the Hebrew language version of the Arutz Sheva news website and the Arbic website of the Israeli Public Broadcasting Organization (KAN), saying they were "not true."

He denied that the National Security Council issued any new travel warning to Turkey or that Israeli nationals were told to leave the country, stressing that such reports had "nothing to do with the current situation" adding that the previous warning was "still valid."

Israel's National Security Council issued a travel warning in September 2017 alleging "concern about terrorist attacks" against Turkey and asked its citizens to leave the country as soon as possible.
