Israel's population rises to 9.6 million in 2022

JERUSALEM (AA) – Israel’s population increased by 2.2 percent to reach 9.6 million by the end of 2022, according to the country’s Central Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.

In a statement, the government office said there are 7.1 million Jews and two million Arabs and 513,000 of other denominations inside the country.

Israel’s population increased by 1.8 percent in 2021.

According to the statement, 73,000 new Jewish immigrants came to Israel in 2022, compared to 25,000 a year earlier.

Almost 80 percent of the new immigrants came from Russia and Ukraine, the figures showed.
