Italian energy group Eni to receive reduced gas volumes from Gazprom

ANKARA (AA) - Italy’s energy group Eni said it will receive about 21 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas from Russia's Gazprom on Monday, less than the average volumes of the last few days.

The company said in a note on its website that in the last few days it had received a daily volume of about 32 mcm.

Gazprom announced on June 15 that it had reduced its gas supply to Eni by 15%.

The Russian energy company informed Eni on June 17 that it would meet only 50% of the daily demand of approximately 63 mcm of gas demanded by Eni.

After Russia launched its war on Ukraine on Feb. 24, relations between Russia and the EU countries, which are major buyers of Russian gas, were at odds.

Aiming to reduce its dependence on Russian gas in energy, Italy also increased the amount of gas it procured from Algeria in order to diversify its energy resources, and also held talks with countries such as Congo and Angola on this issue.
