Italy’s tax police search Serie A offices of Lazio, Roma, Salernitana

ISTANBUL - Italy's Guardia Di Finanza tax police raided the offices of Seri A clubs Roma, Lazio and Salernitana as part of an investigation into their previous transfer activities, local media reported Wednesday.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the investigation into the clubs is focused on transfers that took place between 2017 and 2021.

"The US Salernitana 1919, in relation to the press reports that refer to searches at the headquarters of some football clubs, including Salernitana itself, clarifies that the current corporate structure is completely unrelated to the operations under investigation, referring the same to sports seasons preceding the change of ownership," Salernitana said in a statement.

The identity of the footballers or managers involved was not available.

In 2021 as part of an investigation launched by the Turin Public Prosecutor's Office, the Guardia di Finanza raided Juventus’ offices because of financial irregularity claims.

The Turin football club was given a 15-point reduction in the Serie A table for capital gains violations after an investigation into the club's past transfer dealings.
