ISTANBUL (AA) - Japan's new Cabinet minister overseeing policies on foreign nationals warned foreigners on Wednesday against violating domestic rules, according to The Asahi Shimbun newspaper.

"Crimes and disruptive behavior by some foreign nationals, as well as inappropriate use of public systems, are causing anxiety and a sense of unfairness among Japanese citizens," Conservative lawmaker Kimi Onoda said at her first news conference since her appointment, according to The Asahi Shimbun newspaper.

Onoda was appointed Tuesday to promote an "orderly coexistent society with foreigners."

"I want to work in close coordination with relevant agencies and advance comprehensive discussions as a unified government on various issues, including strict measures against those who do not follow the rules and the revision of systems and policies that are currently inadequate for the present circumstances," said Onoda.

Japan's newly elected first female Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's Cabinet strongly projects her conservative political stance.
