ANKARA (AA) - Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Friday said Japan and China need to make efforts to build a “constructive, and stable relationship.”

Speaking at The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia's premier defense summit in Singapore, Fumio Kishida said that there are “complex issues” between the two countries.

However, he added that the two countries want to make “a constructive and stable relationship."

He noted that in October last year, he talked over the phone with Chinese President Xi Jinping and “we concurred on that view."

"To stabilize this extremely important bilateral relationship, we need to enhance communication and dialogue at all levels," the Japanese prime minister said.
