ISTANBUL (AA) - Jordan’s King Abdullah II met Wednesday with Egyptian Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Ahmed Khalifa to discuss ways to strengthen defense and military cooperation between the two countries.
A royal court statement said the meeting was held at Al-Husseiniya Palace in Amman in the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmed Huneiti.
The talks reviewed the depth of the longstanding fraternal relations between Jordan and Egypt, avenues for enhancing cooperation in military and defense fields, and key regional developments, the statement said.
The royal court did not provide details on the timing or duration of Khalifa’s visit to Jordan.
The meeting comes amid rising tensions between the US and Iran, with US President Donald Trump threatening military action against Tehran.
