ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish modular building company Karmod has launched construction of a prefabricated school in Accra, Ghana as part of a project commissioned by the country’s education ministry, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The school, planned to serve primary school students, will feature eight classrooms and is designed for rapid assembly.

Karmod General Manager Ugur Kadir said the structure will be delivered in just 30 days.

“We design and manufacture our prefabricated buildings according to safe and long-lasting usage standards,” Kadir said, adding: “This project showcases the advantage of fast installation. The eight-classroom school will be erected and handed over within a month. With our secure building model and speed of assembly, we are supporting Ghana’s education ministry in expanding access to schooling.”

The project is being funded by a local aid organization.

Kadir also emphasized that the company adapts its building systems to the regional climate conditions where the structures will be used.

“With wall framing and roof insulation, our buildings provide thermal comfort and energy efficiency wherever they are deployed,” he said.

The school, with a total area of 626 square meters and an L-shaped layout, is a single-story structure that includes not only classrooms but also a special activity room, principal’s office, teachers’ lounge, meeting room, system room, and restroom facilities.

The building was pre-produced at Karmod’s facility in Tuzla, Turkiye, and shipped by sea to Ghana.

Kadir said the company’s own installation team is currently assembling the school on site under the guidance of a supervisor crew.
