Karmod manufactures rainwater harvesting tank for university dormitory

ISTANBUL (AA) - Karmod has produced a 100-ton rainwater harvesting storage tank for use at a university dormitory in the southeastern Turkish province of Siirt, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Karmod Plastic Group General Manager Talay Ozturk said the specially-manufactured underground rainwater harvesting tanks provide a sustainable solution to water scarcity.

Ozturk said the effects of global warming have made rainwater harvesting increasingly important.

“While rainwater harvesting has been practiced for many years in European countries, in our country it became a focus after the shrinking of water resources. Especially in the last two years, its use has become quite popular. As the leading brand in storage tanks, we have developed underground rainwater harvesting storage tanks," he added.

Ozturk informed that the company produces tanks from polyester and polyethylene raw materials in different capacities, adding: "These tanks can function underground for many years in roads, parking lots, gardens, and green areas. They are suitable for use in factory facilities, schools, hospitals, hotels, social facilities, commercial areas, and housing complexes."

Highlighting that they manufacture tanks in capacities tailored to need, he added: “We produce our rainwater harvesting tanks in single-body form ranging from 5,000 liters to 100 tons and deliver them ready for use. By connecting the tanks, much larger storage capacities can be achieved. In our latest project, we produced a 100-ton capacity rainwater harvesting tank for use at the girls’ dormitory in the center of Siirt. The tank also includes a machine room for pump systems.”
