ISTANBUL (AA) - Kazakh companies agreed Wednesday on the export of over $60 million worth of goods to Iran amid a visit by Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov to the country.

During an event organized by the QazTrade Center for Development of Trade Policy, which involved representatives of the Kazakh and Iranian agricultural sectors at the government and business level, export contracts were signed for deliveries of Kazakh fertilizers, oil and fat products, cattle and cattle meat to Iran, said a statement from Smailov's press service.

The statement said Iranian companies showed deep interest in Kazakh producers of phosphate fertilizers and ferroalloys as well as food products, noting that agreements on further development of mutually beneficial relations were reached during the event.

It also said that Kazakh companies are ready to increase supplies to Iran in the medium term, further noting that trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Iran rose 19.8% year-on-year to $528 million in 2022, according to Deputy Trade and Integration Minister Kairat Torebayev.

Smailov arrived in the Iranian capital Tehran on an official visit earlier in the day.
