ISTANBUL (AA) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Sunday voiced concern over missile attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in Bahrain and other states not directly involved in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

According to the Kazakh presidential press service Akorda, Tokayev expressed support and solidarity with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa during a phone conversation. He reiterated Kazakhstan’s backing for de-escalation and a peaceful settlement of the crisis through dialogue and diplomacy.

In response, Al Khalifa thanked Tokayev for his “continued support” and reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, economic, and investment sectors, the statement said.

Regional tensions intensified Saturday after US and Israel launched strikes on Iran, killing several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, US-linked assets, and multiple Gulf states. Iranian strikes have so far hit Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Inside Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent reported that at least 201 people have been killed and 747 injured in US-Israeli attacks since Saturday.
