Kazakhstan, Russia hold scheduled air defense exercises

ISTANBUL (AA) - Kazakhstan and Russia are holding scheduled air defense exercises from Feb. 20 to March 10, the Kazakh Defense Ministry reported Friday.

A statement on Telegram said the exercises will focus on detecting and tracking aerial targets, intercepting aircraft that violate airspace and forcing them to land at designated airfields.

“This is a scheduled event and is aimed at enhancing the level of cooperation, combat training, and readiness of air defense forces on duty,” said authorities.

Officials underlined that the exercises are conducted in accordance with the Joint Action Plan for the Unified Regional Air Defense System of Kazakhstan and Russia
