Kenya, Zambia sign deals to scale up bilateral cooperation

Talks between leaders of 2 African nations focus on bolstering relations

NAIROBI, Kenya (AA) - Kenya and Zambia signed key agreements on Wednesday to boost bilateral cooperation.

Amid a two-day official visit to Kenya, Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema and his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta witnessed the signing of six agreements at the State House in the capital Nairobi.

The two leaders signed bilateral instruments of cooperation on "veterinary and animal health, international relations studies and research, promotion of cooperatives, an MOU (memorandum of understanding) between the Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF) and the Tourism Council Zambia (TCZ), partnership with the Zambia Institute for Tourism and Hospitality Studies and cooperation in the field of information, communication and technology," according to a statement from the Kenyan presidency.

During his visit, President Hichilema will visit the iHub, an organization focused on accelerating technological development in the region and serving as a role model for tech hubs in emerging markets across East Africa.

Earlier in the day, Kenyatta hosted Hichilema at an official reception.
