NAIROBI, Kenya (AA) – Kenyan teacher Rose Tata Wekesa made history on Friday morning by consistently teaching science for over 62 hours at a university in the capital Nairobi.

Wekesa, a teacher at Saint Austin's Academy in Lavington, Nairobi, taught students nonstop biology, chemistry, and physics for an incredible 62 hours, 33 minutes, and 34 seconds, which she recorded on her YouTube channel.

"What I've done is just to show the world that (teaching) science for a longer time consistently is indeed possible. Through this record, I demonstrated that teaching is a noble profession in which teachers should be highly valued. This is a non-profit venture," Wekesa said on her social media platform following the record.

She noted that she had been preparing by staying awake for 44 consecutive hours to train her body.

The event, which began at Nairobi's Multimedia University of Kenya on Monday, drew widespread attention both locally and internationally.

The remarkable achievement of teaching science subjects for the longest time ever is now awaiting official ratification by Guinness World Records.

Previously, in 2008, Indian teacher Kathiravan Pethi taught a science lesson for 50 hours, while all other attempts in the science subjects were of varying types, such as simultaneous, largest, etc.

Prior records in science education include an attempt in 2014 by Steve McDonald to gather 1,339 students for the largest science lesson.
