Kremlin says it doesn't buy Ukraine's denial of drone attacks on Russia

Defense Ministry accused Kyiv of drone strikes targeting infrastructure in several Russian regions

MOSCOW (AA) - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday said Moscow does not trust Ukrainian authorities when they say the country's military is not carrying out drone attacks on Russia.

"We don't trust them," Peskov told a press briefing in Moscow, commenting on remarks by Ukraine's presidential adviser Mikhaylo Podolyak who denied Kyiv carries out strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Russia’s Defense Ministry on Tuesday accused Ukraine of launching drone strikes targeting infrastructure in several Russian regions.

Turning to the legislative amendments being considered by the Russian parliament, aimed at introducing punishment for insulting participants of its "special military operation" in Ukraine, Peskov said: "It is necessary to familiarize with the formulated text and so on, I can't tell you anything yet. This is a new initiative, it will need to be worked out accordingly, of course."

Commenting on the appearance of Ukrainian flags in one of the biggest Russian universities, the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, on the occasion of the Defender of Fatherland Day, Peskov said it is necessary to understand who did it and for what purpose.

"In any case, it is the flag of the very regime that supports the nationalists and with which we are currently fighting," he noted.

Peskov negatively answered to a question whether the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Kazakhstan could affect Russia's relations with the Central Asian state.

He added that Russia values relations with Kazakhstan, and that the two countries are united by multifaceted bilateral ties and participation on integrative projects.

"And we are recording very positive dynamics in the development of these ties," he said.
