ISTANBUL (AA) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on Friday emphasized growing European support for Ukraine after holding talks with his Austrian and Portuguese counterparts, focusing on defense cooperation, political ties, and humanitarian efforts.

Following discussions in Kyiv with Austrian Foreign Minister Barbara Meinl-Reisinger, Sybiha underscored that Austria’s stance “proves that neutrality does not imply indifference.”

He noted that the talks covered political collaboration, business partnerships, and humanitarian initiatives.

Separately, Sybiha met with Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel, calling the meeting “productive” as they worked to advance their bilateral agenda and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

He expressed gratitude for Portugal’s solidarity and practical assistance.

Beyond Europe, Sybiha welcomed the G7’s joint statement from the Charlevoix meeting, commending the group for reaffirming “unwavering support” for Ukraine and pressing Russia to end the war.

He also praised Canada and Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly for their leadership during the G7 presidency.

Additionally, Sybiha discussed transatlantic security and the Ukraine-US strategic partnership with a Hudson Institute delegation, led by President and CEO John Walters.
