Kyrgyzstan government resigns
President Atambayev accepts government's resignation after his Social Democratic Party quits coalition
By Nezir Aliyev
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (AA) – Kyrgyzstan’s government has resigned Wednesday after the president’s Socialist Democratic Party quit the ruling coalition.
President Almazbek Atambayev approved the resignation of the coalition government, which had been formed by four parties in April, according to a statement issued by the presidential press center.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov will remain prime minister until a new government is formed, the statement added.
President Atambayev had announced earlier this week that his Socialist Democratic Party could no longer work with the Ata Meken Party because of the latter’s refusal to back constitutional reforms.
