Landmark building in Doha illuminated in colors of Turkish flag

DOHA, Qatar (AA) - The Sheraton Hotel, one of the landmark structures of Qatar’s capital Doha, was illuminated in the colors of the Turkish flag Thursday as Oct. 29 marks the 98th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.

The Turkish Embassy in Doha also shared a photo from the iconic building’s exterior on Twitter.

Republic Day is a Turkish public holiday commemorating the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey on Oct. 29, 1923 by its founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Turkey’s Republic Day was celebrated Wednesday in a reception at its Doha embassy.
