BERLIN (AA) - Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich's Polish star Robert Lewandowski wants to leave the club, a board member confirmed on Saturday.

A former Bayern Munich player, Hasan Salihamidzic, who now serves for the club as Board Member for Sport, told Bundesliga broadcaster Sky Sport that they talked with Lewandowski, but the 33-year-old forward does not want to extend his deal that expires in 2023.

"I spoke to Lewa. In the conversation, he told me that he did not want to accept our offer to extend the contract and that he would like to leave the club," Salihamidzic said.

"But our attitude hasn't changed: Lewa has a contract until June 30, 2023. That's a fact," he added.

A Bayern Munich regular since 2014, Lewandowski scored 343 goals in 373 matches.

He won the 2020 UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich.

One of the notable strikers globally, Lewandowski, is a 10-time Bundesliga champion, two with Borussia Dortmund in 2011 and 2012.

He took the rest eight Bundesliga championships with Bayern from 2015 to 2022.
