Liverpool clinches 2-0 home win against Everton in Merseyside derby

ISTANBUL (AA) - Liverpool secured a 2-0 home victory over Everton on Monday in the Merseyside derby on matchday 23 of the English Premier League.

Mohamed Salah scored the opener in the 36th minute while Cody Gakpo netted his first-ever Liverpool goal to double the lead in the 49th minute at Anfield Stadium.

The Reds won their first league match of 2023 with the Merseyside derby.

Ninth-place Liverpool increased their points to 32 and 18th-place Everton have collected 18 points so far.

Both Liverpool and Everton confirmed Friday that they would donate signed derby matchday shirts to be auctioned in support of the Disasters Emergency Committee Türkiye-Syria Earthquake Appeal.
