ISTANBUL (AA) – Lufthansa will cut 4,000 administrative jobs, the German flag carrier announced Monday, as it seeks to enhance efficiency through digitalization and automation.
In a statement, the Lufthansa Group said that the majority of the layoffs will be in Germany.
The firm said that it will make “significant investments” and comprehensive adjustments in 2025 and the coming years, in particular, fleet renewal and future programs.
As part of investments, it will purchase 230 new aircraft over the same period, including 100 long-haul aircraft.
The firm targets to reach more than €2.5 billion ($2.9 billion) in adjusted free cash flow per year between 2028-2030.
"Financial strength will continue to be the basis for achieving the financial targets," it added.
