Magnitude 5.4 aftershock jolts Southern California
California experienced its strongest quake in 20 years on Thursday

ANKARA (AA) - A magnitude-5.4 earthquake was reported early Friday near the city of Ridgecrest in Southern California, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
This was the latest in the scores of scary aftershocks to the massive magnitude-6.4 earthquake a day earlier. It was strong enough to wake up people as far away as Los Angeles, Long Beach, Laguna Hills, San Bernardino, Fresno and Las Vegas, according to reports on social media.
The quake occurred at a depth of 4.3 miles.
On Thursday morning, California experienced its strongest quake in 20 years jolting residents from Las Vegas to Long Beach and alerting officials.
There were no immediate reports of deaths, serious injuries or major infrastructure damage.
An average of five earthquakes with magnitudes between 5.0 and 6.0 occur every year in California and Nevada, according to a recent three-year data sample quoted by Los Angeles Times.
