Malaysian Premier, Indonesian President reaffirm to strengthen bilateral ties

ISTANBUL (AA)— Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Sunday that he spoke with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto over the phone, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Anwar stated on his X account that he spoke with Prabowo on Saturday about an array of topics, including Indonesia-Malaysia collaboration in several sectors.

“We touched on the need for these two friendly countries to strengthen their cooperative relations covering various fields,” Anwar stated.

“President Prabowo and I believe that the close relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia can benefit the people as a whole.”

He also mentioned that the discussion included Malaysia’s preparations for hosting the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur at the end of May, in its role as the current ASEAN chair.

Anwar stated that Prabowo had invited him to make an official visit to Jakarta in the near future.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening regional collaboration and maintaining ASEAN unity, particularly in light of ongoing geopolitical and economic challenges, according to Antara News.
