BUENOS AIRES (AA) - Police in Brazil on Sunday detained a man with a knife and fireworks attempting to enter President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's inauguration in the capital Brasilia.
Some 300,000 people are expected to attend the inauguration for Lula's third term as leader of Brazil.
Lula himself has already arrived in presidential Rolls Royce, closely flanked by a number of security alongside Vice President-elect Geraldo Alckmin.
The detained man reportedly travelled to Brasilia from the city Rio de Janeiro, according to local reports.
Following the his arrest, he was taken to a police station.
Authorities have yet to make any further comment.
Last Monday, authorities stepped up security ahead of Lula's inauguration, after a Jair Bolsonaro supporter was detained after placing an explosive device to create "chaos" near the airport in Brasilia.
Authorities said it failed to explode.
Authorities later named Businessman George Washington de Oliveira Sousa, 54, from the state of Para as the detained man - describing him as "ideologically" driven and after searches, found an array of weapons at his home.
In outgoing president Jair Bolsonaro's last address, he condemned the incident, saying during a live broadcast that "nothing justifies an attempted terrorist act".
