Mavericks hammer Warriors as Doncic dominates

Slovenian star Doncic tallies 39 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds as Dallas beat Golden State 133-103 on Tuesday

ANKARA (AA) - Slovenian basketball star Luka Doncic scored 39 points as his team, the Dallas Mavericks, thrashed the Golden State Warriors 133-103 in a Tuesday NBA match.

Doncic made eight assists and had six rebounds in Chase Center, San Francisco.

Dallas were dominant with a 28-0 run in the match as Golden State were unable to score in a nearly 10-minute span during the first and second quarters.

This was one of the key factors in the big win.

After the second quarter, the visiting Mavericks led at halftime 62-29 -- the lowest for the Warriors this season.

In addition to Doncic, Dallas players Tim Hardaway Jr., Dorian Finney-Smith and Nicolo Melli scored 13 points each.

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry racked up 27 points and shooting guard Mychal Mulder scored 26 for the home team.

Dallas are now in the sixth position in the Western Conference with 34-27.

Golden State come 10th in the West. They lost 31 games but won 31 others.


- Nets clinch NBA playoffs

In the Eastern Conference, leaders Brooklyn Nets secured the 2021 NBA playoffs.

The Nets beat the Toronto Raptors 116-103 in Tampa, Florida, as US superstar Kevin Durant made a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Power forward Jeff Green scored 22 points to lead the Nets.

Another Nets forward, Blake Griffin, had 17 points as well.

Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry was the game's top scorer as the 35-year-old had 24 points.

Raptors small forward OG Anunoby scored 21 points against the Nets.

The Nets won 42 games and lost 20 others to clinch the playoff berth first in the East.

The Raptors have a 26-36 win/loss record.

Two franchises, the Nets (East) and the Utah Jazz (West), have thus booked their places for the playoffs.

The Jazz are leading the West with 44-17.
