Measures taken to hedge sanctions risks: Russian state atomic energy corporation

Rosatom says UK sanctions do not contribute to cooperation in nuclear field, endanger international nuclear security

MOSCOW (AA) - Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom said Friday the measures were taken to hedge risks arising from sanctions imposed by Great Britain.

"In our activities, we predict various scenarios, including taking into account unmotivated and chaotic sanctions pressure, and in this regard, we take appropriate actions in advance," Rosatom said in a statement.

But the UK's sanctions against management and several Rosatom companies do not contribute to productive cooperation in the nuclear field and endanger international nuclear security, it said.

"The position of the Russian nuclear industry remains unchanged and lies in the fact that we have always worked and continue to work around the world transparently, in the interests of partners, and with strict compliance with international and national legislation," according to the statement.

Rosatom "always, under any circumstances, comply with its international obligations, and will continue to fulfill all current contracts as long as it remains possible,” it said.

Rosatom's First Deputy Director-General Kirill Komarov said in November that sanctions will not pose a problem for financing Türkiye's first nuclear plant, Akkuyu.
