Mercedes-Benz's Q2 sales down 9%

BERLIN (AA) – Sales at German automaker Mercedes-Benz Group fell 9% in the second quarter of the year from the same period last year due to the impact of global tariff policies.

Mercedes-Benz announced on Monday that its vehicle sales dropped to 547,100 units.

The company said deliveries to dealers were carefully adjusted to align with new global tariff policies, and that this affected the company's passenger car sales in the US and China.

Sales of the company's light commercial vehicles (vans) fell 10% during the period to 93,400 units.

The German manufacturer's battery-powered electric vehicle sales also fell 18% in the second quarter to 41,900.

Sales in China, the German luxury car manufacturer's largest market, fell 19% in the second quarter to 140,400 units, while sales in the US dropped 12% to 74,600 units.

In Europe and Germany, sales rose 7% and 1%, respectively.
