Mexico's economic activity expands 3.9% annually

ISTANBUL (AA) - Mexico's economic activity expanded 3.9% in February on an annual basis, the country's statistical authority announced Tuesday.

The figure was n line with the expectations but it showed a slowdown from a 4.5% gain in January.

Annually, primary and secondary activities increased 8.2% and 3.5%, respectively, while tertiary activities decreased 3.8%, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) said in a statement.

On a monthly basis, economic activity rose just 0.1% in February.

While the estimate for the figure was to show a monthly gain of 0.4%, it increased 0.6% in January.

Monthly, primary activities grew 4.2%, secondary activities rose 0.7% but tertiary activities fell 0.1%, according to INEGI.
