Missing mother's family in 'agony' after UK police find body

LONDON (AA) - The family of a missing English woman missing for three weeks said they are in "agony" after police found a body in a river, according to media reports on Monday.

Nicola Bulley, 45, a mother of two and a mortgage adviser, went missing on Jan. 27 in Wyre, Lancashire, northwestern England after dropping off her daughters off at school.

On Sunday, Lancashire police said they found an unidentified body in the River Wyre near where Bulley disappeared.

"No formal identification has yet been carried out, so we are unable to say whether this is Nicola Bulley at this time," said a police statement.

Police added that they are still treating the death as unexplained and they also informed Nicola’s family.

Bulley's partner Paul Ansell told Sky News said: "No words right now, just agony."

"We're all together, we have to be strong," he added.

Last week, Lancashire police faced a fierce backlash after they said Bulley had suffered from "significant issues with alcohol" brought on by "ongoing struggles with the menopause."
