Morocco dismisses reports of Netanyahu visit
‘I won’t respond to baseless rumors,’ government spokesman says
By Khalid Majdoub
RABAT (AA) - A government spokesman denied reports Thursday of a planned visit to the kingdom by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Mustapha al-Khalfi was terse when he responded to reporters at a news conference recent reports in Israeli media suggesting Netanyahu planned to in March or April. “I won’t respond to baseless rumors,” he said.
Last month, dozens of Moroccans staged a sit-in outside the parliament building in Rabat to demand Netanyahu not be allowed to enter.
Israeli media also recently claimed that Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita met with Netanyahu last September.
Israel’s Channel 13 claimed the men held a “secret meeting” on the sidelines of a UN General Assembly meeting in New York -- allegations also dismissed by al-Khalfi.
