NATO secretary general meets with IEA executive director

BRUSSELS (AA) - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met Tuesday with International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol at NATO headquarters.

Stoltenberg and Birol exchanged views on climate change and security, energy security and clean energy transition as well as strengthening cooperation between NATO and the IEA, according to a statement released by NATO.

"The IEA took the lead in guiding the way forward on energy policies, which can lead to net zero carbon emissions," it added.

It said the increasing cooperation between NATO and the IEA was welcomed Stoltenberg, adding “the global transition to clean energy makes closer ties even more important."
