Oil-rich country re-elects center-right coalition

By Ilker Girit

ISTANBUL (AA) - Norway's center-right has emerged on top after Monday’s general election with 99.8 percent of the votes counted.

Conservative Prime Minister Erna Solberg’s party, which has been leading a coalition government since 2013, won 25.1 percent of the vote -- 45 seats in the 169-seat parliament -- while its Progress Party partners gained 15.3 percent -- 28 seats -- according to the Norwegian Directorate of Elections.

Although Solberg does not have an absolute majority, together with Progress party her coalition looks set for a return to power.

The Labour Party will be the biggest group in parliament, with 49 seats, but will remain the country’s main opposition for the next four years.
