WASHINGTON (AA) - US military strikes against Iran are continuing, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said late Saturday.

"The Iranian regime was warned. CENTCOM is now delivering swift and decisive action as directed," it said on US social media company X, sharing unclassified attack videos.

The US and Israel launched a major military operation against Iran on Saturday that President Donald Trump said was intended to degrade Tehran’s military capabilities and neutralize a nuclear threat. He urged the Iranian people to “take over your government” once the strikes conclude.

CENTCOM's post came as Iranian state television confirmed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed.

Earlier, Trump said Khamenei, "one of the most evil people in History, is dead."

CBS News, citing sources, reported that the strikes are believed to have killed about 40 Iranian officials.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it will “decisively avenge’ Khamenei’s killing.
