Oman calls US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites ‘illegal aggression,’ violation of international law

Oman emphasizes Iran’s ‘legitimate right to develop nuclear programs for peaceful purposes’

ANKARA (AA) – Oman condemned on Sunday US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities as “illegal aggression” and a serious violation of international law.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said US actions “threaten to expand the scope of the conflict” and constitute a “serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.”

The ministry highlighted that the UN Charter “prohibits the use of force and the violation of the national sovereignty of states.”

Oman emphasized Iran’s “legitimate right to develop nuclear programs for peaceful purposes under the supervision and oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency,” in line with international protocols, including the Geneva Conventions.

US President Donald Trump said early Sunday that his forces bombed three Iranian nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan.

The attacks came as the latest escalation in a US-backed Israeli military assault on Iran since June 13, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory attacks on Israel.

Israeli authorities said at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks.

Meanwhile, in Iran, 430 people have been killed and more than 3,500 wounded in the Israeli assault, according to the Iranian Health Ministry.
