On long journey to Jerusalem, Italian traveler visits Türkiye's historical Beypazari district

ANKARA (AA) - An Italian who embarked on a long journey on foot from Rome to Jerusalem nearly three months ago reached Türkiye’s historical Beypazari district in the capital Ankara on Wednesday.

On the 85th day of his long journey to Jerusalem, the city considered holy for the Abrahamic faiths, Renato Romano said: "Today, I'm passing through this beautiful city. I have had the opportunity to visit and see Beypazari," noting that he had heard of Beypazari and that it was on the historical Silk Road.

Hosted at the district’s tourism office, Romano seemed quite pleased and said he will never forget the hospitality of the Turkish people in Beypazari.

Romano, 29, also said: "I don't know how long my journey to Jerusalem will take, but I will arrive in Jerusalem."

On the Türkiye leg of his journey, he said it has been going very well, adding: "Drivers beep their horns to greet me as they pass by me on the road."

Romano’s next stop after Beypazari will be Ankara.

Beypazari has been a settlement since ancient times and holds symbols of ancient traditions with rich historical and natural resources, according to UNESCO.
