Pakistan accuses India of building 'nuclear city'
Foreign ministry does not elaborate on claim, says India's nuclear policy threatens regional stability
By Aamir Latif
KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - India has built a “secret nuclear city”, Pakistan claimed on Thursday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Nafees Zakaria made the claim during a weekly media briefing without elaborating further, the English-language Dawn newspaper reported.
He also accused New Delhi of stockpiling nuclear weapons and conducting tests of inter-continental missiles to an extent that could undermine the strategic balance of power in the region.
“Pakistan remains committed to the principles of peaceful existence with all of its neighbors, including India,” Zakaria added, according to the newspaper.
Dawn cited a report from the Islamabad-based Institute of Strategic Studies that said India had sufficient material and technical capabilities to develop 356 to 492 nuclear weapons.
